Chris Taylor BSc (Hons) Dip Arch RIBA - Associate Director

Chris Taylor joined the practice in 2001 and qualified with distinction as an architect in 2005. In 2007 he became an Associate Director of the practice and has since gained considerable experience mainly in commercial, education and healthcare projects up to £12million.

He brings straightforward thinking, honesty and humility to a project, ensuring everyone feels valued in the team to gain maximum productivity. Accountability and responsibility to the client are also key factors - following the project to a successful and timely conclusion.

Lawrence McBurney BSc (Hons) Dip Arch RIBA - Associate Director

Lawrence first joined the Practice in 2000 shortly after completing his first honours degree at Queens University in Belfast and prior to finishing his studies at John Moore's University in Liverpool.

In 2007 he became an Associate Director with a particular interest in advancing the quality and level of design at the practice. Activities within the practice include office resourcing, marketing and website management.

As an outstanding project leader his role on developments is to work with all the 'team' to ensure a very high standard of design is provided integrating architectural, environmental, structural and financial requirements.

Lawrence brings an architectural passion, drive and desire to provide first-class developments tailored to the context of the site and the client's vision.

He has substantial educational experience at delivering modern, exciting facilities that drive forward advancement in educational teaching and is very keen to see good quality architecture help influence and accommodate the modern and changing needs of society.

His experience covers a broad spectrum of sectors including educational, commercial, residential and industrial. Recent examples of his involvement include a £5M Vocational Centre for St. Monica's RC High School in Manchester and a £40M distribution and office centre for James Hall & Co Ltd in Preston.

Peter Llewellin - Associate Director

Peter is an Associate Director of the C+A Group and has been working as an architectural technician for over 30 years.

His experience includes meeting clients and taking briefs, taking projects from inception through to completion - including on-site monitoring and quality control.

He has worked mainly on leisure and education projects.

Fred Shorrock SAI - Associate Director

Fred joined the practice in 1961 and studied building construction at the Harris College, Preston and Wigan Technical College and is a member of the Society of Architectural Illustration.

His experience includes working on a variety of projects in both the public and private sectors, in particular educational, ecclesiastical and conservation-based projects from inception through all stages to final completion, and involving on-site monitoring and quality control. Completed projects of historic interest have gained Civic Design and Conservation Awards.

In August 2000 he became an Associate Director. Fred's activities within the practice include the technical direction and management of drawing office procedures and practice.

Neil Aaron ACIAT - Associate Director

Neil joined the practice at the age of 18 in 1985 having completed a BTEC HNC in building studies and was promoted to Associate Director in charge of technical development throughout the group in 2000. He is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.

He has worked on both public and private sector projects over the years with major clients such as BAe Systems, Tesco and Lancashire County Council.

Neil brings an enthusiasm to challenge and drive forward modern methods of construction within the practice. His technical experience and project leadership is second to none with a committed desire to drive forward standards.

Toby Southgate BA (Hons) Dip Arch RIBA - Associate Director

Having studied architecture in London at the University of Westminster and the University of East London, Toby finally settled in Chester having completed his Part 3 in Birmingham on the way. He was made an Associate Director in 2006 when he joined Cassidy + Ashton as a founder member of the Chester office, having previously worked for a long-established Chester practice.

As a senior member of the architectural team his main areas of expertise are in the commercial and residential sectors where he currently undertakes works for private developers, industrial and manufacturing companies and national house builders.

Taking a 'hands-on' approach to a wide range of projects from the feasibility stage right through to completion on site he has a wealth of experience in maximising the value of sites for clients and consistently delivers high quality buildings on time and within budget.

Guy Evans MSc BSc (Hons) MRTPI - Associate Director

Guy joined the practice's Chester office in 2009 as part of the group's strategic expansion of their planning services across the North West and West Midlands.

With a Masters in Environmental Planning from Liverpool John Moores University behind him he cut his teeth in the professional services division of a commercial and residential agency on the south coast. In 2004 he moved to Cheshire to take on a lead role in the western region planning team of Carter Jonas, a national firm of property consultants.

Guy is a Chartered Town Planner with over 13 years' experience in private consultancy, during which time he has project managed an extensive number of planning applications of varying scale and covering all market sectors. His role as lead planner sees him prepare all necessary supporting planning documentation, inclusive of environmental statements and manage an extensive range of sub-consultants.

With a solid understanding of urban design and experience in the masterplan process for major sites, Guy is also well-versed in the strategic promotion of land through the Development Plan process, inclusive of sustainability analysis, written representations and appearances at the examination and subsequent application process.

He prides himself on being able to provide the client with clear, practical advice at a time when the planning system is becoming ever more complex and not something to be entered into lightly.
