Cassidy + Ashton win Civic Trust Award for 'Excellence in Design'

Cassidy and Ashton has been awarded for its design of The Glasdon Group’s Innovation and Export Centre.

The offices on Preston New Road, Blackpool, are the latest in a series of projects undertaken by Cassidy and Ashton for The Glasdon Group.

The Best New Build accolade for excellence in design was awarded by Blackpool Civic Trust. The construction of the centre took 10 months, completing in February 2010.

Alistair Baines, director of Cassidy and Ashton architects, commented: “We are delighted to have been chosen as winners of this prestigious award and would like to thank Blackpool Civic Trust for recognising our work in this way.

“We are very proud of our design for The Glasdon’s Group Innovation and Export Centre, which reflects the future-forward outlook of the company. Glasdon is a long-standing customer of ours and we look forward to providing more outstanding building designs for them in the future.”

Jim Hodgson, a Glasdon Group director, added: “We feel the design of our Innovation and Export Centre really brings to life the inventive work which goes on inside. It truly is a statement building and we receive many positive comments about its look and feel.”

Presenting the award, Ian Harvey of Civic Voice described the design as “exceptional”, commenting that it stood out from the huge range of other entries in the category.

The award-winning building design was developed in collaboration with Blackpool Council planningdepartment and the Cassidy and Ashton team is grateful for their co-operation.
