Planning consent has been granted for a £750,000 expansion and alteration project at the site of a primary school and chapel at Hurst Green in the Ribble Valley.
Commissioned by the Society of Jesus, the project to demolish a single storey chapel building and add a second storey extension to an existing building at St Joseph’s RC Primary School, will be put out to tender this month.
Work is expected to start in July and be completed by Easter 2016.
The renovation will provide improved pastoral facilities and additional flexible accommodation for use by both the school and the parish and will be sensitively developed in order to create an attractive extension that sits comfortably within the context of the surrounding area.
Michael Hartley, director at Cassidy + Ashton, said: “This commission follows last year’s extremely successful refurbishment which saw St Peter’s Church at Stonyhurst restored to its former glory.”
