Matthew Thompson

Chartered Architect (RIBA)

Matthew joined Cassidy + Ashton’s architecture and design team based in Preston in July 2021.

He previously worked at Firth Architects in Lytham, where he specialised in the design of luxury residential developments, working on a wide range of projects including house extensions, renovations and new builds.

His experience includes working on the design of bespoke ‘one-off’ high-valued houses and renovations involving the adaptation of old and listed buildings for residential use, providing a more contemporary purpose.

After qualifying as an architect in 2020 following completion of Part 3 of the RIBA’s Advanced Diploma in Professional Practice in Architecture, Matthew now aims to achieve his goal of becoming an accredited conservation architect. He also has a keen interest in expanding his experience in commercial property design.

Matthew’s passion for working on old properties includes completing the renovation of his own home, a 200-year-old cottage in the Trough of Bowland. He has also worked on the design of the residential conversion of a church as well as a current client project converting an old tile kiln into a family home.

Away from the office, Matthew is a keen cyclist and enjoys outdoor adventure sports. He has completed a number of cycling events for charity.
