Randall Street Mosque
- Client: Randall Street Mosque committee
- Type: New Build Mosque
Nestled in the heart of the Daubhill area in Bolton, Masjid Al-Rahman has stood as a beacon of faith, guidance, and community for generations. Under the banner of Daubhill Muslim Society (DMS), the masjid has played a vital role in serving the spiritual and educational needs of the local Muslim community.
As the Muslim population in Daubhill grew, so did the need for a dedicated space for worship and learning. In its early days, prayers and children’s evening classes were held in a small facility — located where the masjid car park now stands. Despite its humble beginnings, this space became a vital hub for the community.
Recognising the increasing needs of worshippers, a purpose-built masjid was required to provide enhanced services and facilities. This new masjid would become a place where people of all ages and backgrounds could comfortably perform their religious duties, seek knowledge, and connect with their community.
Cassidy + Ashton were appointed to design the new mosque and undertook a series of engagement sessions with key stakeholders. The brief was ambitious to try and maximise the available capacity of the site whilst respecting the adjacent properties. The brief called for a modern building to bring the local community together and create a landmark building.
