Experienced architectural technologist Ikraam joins Cassidy + Ashton

Ikraam qualified in 2019, gaining a first from UCLan University after studying part-time while working in the industry.

Since graduating, he has held several architectural positions across the North West, developing his technical skills in a range of areas. This includes producing building information modelling (BIM) drawings for various retail projects, working on master planning projects for industrial developments, as well as a design and technical role in the residential housing sector.

His most recent role before joining Cassidy + Ashton this year was BIM / Revit architectural technologist at Corstophine and Wright, based in Manchester. He worked on projects including the new Crewe Bus Station and multi-storey car park and the proposed new headquarters of Wilmslow police station.

Cassidy + Ashton CEO, Alistair Baines, said: “2024 is certainly already proving to be another growth year for Cassidy + Ashton. Ikraam is a valuable addition to the Preston team, and his hire is the start of a recruitment drive to support the increasing amount of architectural consultancy work and projects where we have been appointed as the design lead.

“It is great to see how quickly Ikraam has settled in, he has adapted quickly to our way of working and shows great passion for his profession. He is demonstrating real expertise on a variety of projects and I am excited to work with him as he continues to develop his talents.”

As part of the C+A architect and design team, Ikraam will play a key role in developing architectural design concepts across the different stages of the RIBA Plan of Works from concept drawings to onsite to project completion.

He will work on a mix of projects, across commercial, educational, and residential sectors, for both refurbishments and new builds.

Ikraam, who lives in Preston, said: “I come from a family of builders, my father was a builder, and I have always had an interest in building design. I consider Cassidy + Ashton one of the leading architects in Lancashire and when I was offered the opportunity to join the team and work in my hometown, I was eager to accept.

“As a designer, I think it’s important to work on projects and see them come to fruition in and around the area you live. The fact that the practice does so much work in Lancashire and the wider area was a key driver in for me. I must pass at least three or four prominent buildings designed by Cassidy + Ashton every day.”

Ikraam is working towards his Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) chartership to achieve an MCIAT Professional accreditation. With the support from Cassidy + Ashton, he is keen to then work his way to senior technologist level and towards associate.
