Cassidy + Ashton secured full planning permission to convert the existing largely vacant former lamp works building in Preston into flats and fully refurbish its exterior to bring back to life.

The introduction of a modular black aluminium window system to the upper levels and lowering of the high existing cill levels, provides a striking fenestration befitting of a large mill building and regularise the appearance of the adhoc aesthetic that has materialised over the years.

Likewise a standard ground floor retail unit shopfront has been designed that is in keeping with the overall mill building appearance and allows flexibility of design to suit individual retail tenants needs.

Proposals also include converting some of the building into a cafe, gym, and communal area for residents.
